Growing A Sustainable Future

Growing A Sustainable Future

1.Planting Seeds

  • Seedlings are started using small pots in vertically stacked trays.

2.Mist

  • Plants are moved to a vertical grow wall where the roots are misted with nutrient rich water. The nutrients provided are the same as what is found in soil but are being given in the exact ratio that the plants require.

3.Temperature

  • Temperature of the room is kept between 16 and 20 degrees.

4.Light

  • LED lights are used to provide the correct wavelengths of light that are required for optimal growth.

  • Deep green and red colours develop as these plants are very nutrient rich.

5.Harvest

  • Plants are delivered to the consumer within 24 hours of harvesting for optimal freshness and shelf life.

6.Purchase Our Product

We will be selling at farmer's markets. See you there!

Founders of Uplift Aero Greens

About Us

In 2020, James began his journey into aeroponics by designing and constructing his own unique system with the intention of increasing year-round food security for our local community. After just two years, James is now growing lettuce year-round without the use of sprays or pesticides, all while using 95% less water than traditional methods. Talk about sustainable!

Here at Uplift Aero Greens, our #1 priority is producing fresh, great tasting, healthy food and ensuring our customers are 100% satisfied with the quality. We understand the environmental impact farming can have and take pride in having a system that provides 7x the production/growing area when compared to traditional methods.

With Covid-19 distribution drawbacks and weather related disruptions, we understand the heightened need for the production of fresh produce that’s grown locally. That's why we work hard to ensure you are provided with greens that you love most, at a quality that will have you wanting to come back for more.

Vertical Farming

Globally, usable farming space is shrinking due to environmental pressures & growing global population. One of the greatest advantages of implementing vertical farming technologies is the increased crop yield produced on a small parcel of land.

In our system specifically, we increase surface area/yield by 7x and use 95% less water than traditional farming.

What Is Aeroponics?

Aeroponics is the process of growing plants in an air or mist environment without the use of soil or an aggregate medium.

The term aeroponics, meaning “working air,” stems from the Greek words for air, “aer,” and labor, “ponos.” This form of hydroponics involves growing plants without the use of soil. Instead, it relies on air to deliver a nutrient-rich mist to the plant's roots.

Benefits Of An Aeroponic System

As aeroponics is conducted in air combined with micro-droplets of water, almost any plant can grow to maturity with the right combination of oxygen, water and nutrients.

Due to the disease-free environment that is unique to aeroponics, plants can grow at a higher density compared to traditional forms of cultivation.

The physical growing process of the plant is the same as in other forms of farming however aeroponics differs in how nutrients are delivered and environmental conditions are controlled. Plants do not have to go looking for sustenance as this nutrient rich mist is delivered directly to the root zone. Indoor grow lights are optimized to fall within certain wavelengths to further promote plant growth.
